Chicago Public Schools Struggling With Funding and Enrollment

Tilden High School:

The main entrance of Tilden High School on the south side of Chicago (4747 S. Union Ave., Chicago, IL 60609). In the school year of 2016-2017, Tildon had approximately 281students enrolled. Furthermore, Tilden lacks the necessary funding it needs in order to better their educational system.

On the south corner of the building, chiseled in a section of the wall says, "A D 1922 TILDEN TECHNICAL HIGH SCHOOL  BOARD-OF-EDUCATION-CITY-OF-CHICAGO". One of Tilden High School's older names was Tilden Technical High School. Tilden has had a recent Principal change and the same hopes are high to get the school back up.

 Wells High School:

The main entrance of Wells High School located in West Town which is a northwest neighborhood in Chicago (936 N. Ashland Ave., Chicago, IL 60622). Wells High School is one of the many CPS that are struggling due to enrollment rates and also limited funding.

Students walk by Crystal(left) and Joe(right)(the two individuals in the high visibility yellow jackets) who are two members of the 'Safe Passage' program formed by the Chicago Police Department. Due to the increase in violence in certain neighborhoods, the program provides students with security and daily patrols before and after school.
